On the left is a glue up blank for a wooden vase that I made
for Betty's Mum for Christmas 1998. It started out square, but as
you can see the bottom has already been "turned" a little bit.
On the right is the same glue up and it has been "turned" quite
a bit here, it is beginning to take on
it's finished shape.
And here is the finished product. It is made up of blocks of maple
and walnut glued together and "turned" on a wood lathe. It has a
hand
rubbed finish of boiled linseed oil. All it needs now is some
flowers
to finish it off!!
This next Vase was made for Betty for Christmas 2004. It is done using the same
type of glue up method that I used for the vase above. Wood is Maple and Walnut
and there are 33 pieces in this vase.
It is finished with 5 coats of clear gloss water base urethane.
